Low FODMAP Beer Bread

Did you know that humans have been baking bread for at least 30 000 years. In fact today, bread in all its various forms, is the most widely consumed food in the world!

Since I love the smell of fresh bread, this month’s Recipe ReDux theme has me super excited.

If you thought that your IBS would mean that you would never again get to enjoy the taste and texture of warm soft crusty wheat bread without a gut ache, think again.

This recipe for low FODMAP Beer bread will leave you feeling like a cat that caught the canary. But you’ll have to be quick, the rest of the family won’t care that its low FODMAP, they’ll just eat it because it tastes good.

Not only is it good, but since it does not require proving or kneading, its super easy to make.

Low FODMAP Beer Bread

Serves: 12
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time 40-50 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups low FODMAP flour (2ab or The Healthy Baker)
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 x 330ml bottle of beer

Method:

  1. Heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
  2. Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda into a large bowl. Stir through caster sugar.
  3. Make a well in the middle & pour in beer. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
  4. Pour batter into greased casserole pot or bread tin. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden.
